If you’re craving authentic Mexican food that tastes like it was made in someone’s kitchen, and not a restaurant, Piña’s Mexican Restaurant on 25th Street is the spot. Every dish feels like a home-cooked meal, minus the dishes you’d have to wash after.
The Food
Honestly, that’s what keeps me coming back. The enchiladas de mole are the main event—rich, chocolatey, and perfectly spiced. Every bite satisfies that craving that brought you here in the first place. It’s served with refried pinto beans and rice. The enchiladas as stuffed with chicken, which that’s just everything to me.
I also recommend you try the chilaquiles, because that crispy, messy bite topped with the right amount of shredded chicken, queso, cilantro and onion is just what you needed.
Do you have time to talk about the breakfast burrito? It’s got the standard stuff, and I always order it with bacon rather than ham or sausage because that’s what belongs in this breakfast burrito. I skip the avocado because it’s cold and it clashes with the rest of the consistency for me.
The Soups & the Drinks
It deserves a standing ovation. Every single time I’ve been here, the staff has been friendly, fast, and genuinely kind. This is the kind of place where if you come in once, they’ll remember you the next time so you keep coming back. The owners are always so lovely.
Sure, it’s a little pricey, but you can taste why. Everything is fresh, intentional, and made with love. I wouldn’t even call this fast food, it’s real food.
Come hungry, and maybe stay for the champurrado.
